There are three rounds to this competition: Auditions on June 18, Initial Competition Round on June 25 and Final Round on October 8, 2011.

RULES
Please read and understand all the information below!
The initial Audition on June 18 is from 1pm to 4pm (first come, first served) at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse, located at the corner of Pennsylvania & Carnegie Avenues in the heart of Mt. Gretna, PA.
The top 10 to 20 finishers (depending on turnout and level of talent) of the best from the auditions on June 18th will proceed to the second round on Saturday, June 25th (one week later), again at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse. Arrival on June 25th is at 8:30 AM for the drawing to determine the order of performers. There will be a dress rehearsal at 9:00 AM and the competition will begin promptly at 11:00 AM. Audience members with tickets will be admitted beginning at 10:40AM. Four top finalists will be announced at the conclusion of the June 25th competition.
The top four finalists will perform at the Gretna Theatre Annual Gala at the Hotel Hershey on Saturday evening, October 8, 2011. The final competition will be judged by the Gala attendees and awards will be presented at that time. All first and second round finalists must agree to be present and perform at the Gala on October 8th if chosen as one of the top four finalists.
All contestants must be between the ages of 10 and 16 at the time of the first audition. Birth dates must be provided on the registration form and should there be a protest, proof may be requested.
All acts must consist of a solo, individual talent only. No group performances. Performers may be Singers, Musicians, Comics, Jugglers, Magicians, et al. Note that any performance must be able to be accomplished on a relatively small carpeted riser/stage in the ballroom at the Gala in order to be included in the final. All performances are limited to three minutes from the start of the performance. Piano accompaniment or CD sound system is provided. Contestants, if performing to music, must either provide sheet music already in their key OR provide a CD-R with only their performance music recorded on it. (All CD’s MUST be in a jewel case and have the competitor’s name, song title, duration, and telephone number listed on the case and CD. Sorry, CD-RW disks will not be accepted. CD’s with more than one track on them will not be accepted. No more than a three-second delay may be included before the start of the music.) All materials must be picked up at the end of the auditions/competitions. Unclaimed materials will not be returned. Note that live accompaniment will be provided and is required at the Oct. 8th Gala.
All presentations must be of a “family friendly” nature as to content, dress and movement and be appropriate for all ages. It is up to the sole discretion of the judges as to the appropriateness of material. Inappropriate content or dress will automatically disqualify a contestant.
All contestants must come dressed and ready to perform at both the initial audition and the follow-up contests. Dressing room facilities will not be provided. Backstage personnel will organize and send contestants out on stage. Contestants ONLY are permitted backstage or onstage during any part of these events – parents, guardians and friends must wait outside or in the theatre. Contestants may join their parents/guardians/friends in the audience at the conclusion of their audition/competition via the backstage entrance/exit.
There is no charge for the initial audition on June 18th. All contestants must fill out a registration form that must be signed by a parent/guardian and submitted between May 1 and June 1, 2011 only.
There is a registration fee of $20 for the top 20 finishers who will compete on June 25th.
The Audience will count as one vote during the June 25th competition via the strength of the response to each competitor! All audience members, including parents and guardians, must purchase a ticket and be seated in the Playhouse in order to attend the June 25th event – tickets are $7 each.
Parents or guardians, limited to two, may accompany the contestant to the final Gala competition on October 8th at the Hershey Hotel. Food will be provided and those parents/guardians are invited to watch the final contest. This is a “black-tie-encouraged” event and that should be taken into consideration regarding dress for contestants and parents/guardians. Should the parents wish to do so, they may purchase full Gala event tickets in order to be seated at tables with full dinner service, but this is NOT a requirement of the competition.
Auditions on June 18th will be in the order of arrival. The line up of competitors at the June 25th competition will be in the order chosen by random drawing prior to the competition. The line up of competitors at the October 8th final will be by random drawing prior to the competition. Judges (other than the audience members) may not be related to any contestant.
The master of ceremonies for the event on June 25th will be Gretna Theatre’s Producing Artistic Director, Larry Frenock. Judges at the June 25th event will include Gretna Theatre’s Casting Director, Musical Director, and a member (or members) of the Gretna Theatre summer professional acting company; the Audience will count as one vote via the strength of their reaction to the competition.
